Synthesis of material FeSe with a solid state reaction method for superconductor applications

Since the discovery of superconductor La[O1-xFx]FeAs with Tc=26K in 2008, the research on Fe-basedsuperconductors become an intesive research. The iron that belief as the antagonistic againts superconductivity wasbreaking with this discovery. Iron was a material which have characteristic as conductor. In this research, FeSe with theratio Fe:Se 1:1 was prepared by solid state reaction method by using high energy milling and sintered in quartz tube. Thesamples with high purity powders of iron (99.99 persen) and selenium (99.99 persen) initially prepared in glove box and sealed in tothe high energy milling jar and well mixed in the shaker mill for 2 hours. Then, the sample were placed into quartz tubeand heat up to 500°C for 6 hours. After the heat treatment of the sample, structural properties of the material werecharacterized by X-ray Diffractometer (XRD) and for the morphology of the material were characterized by ScanningElectron Microscope (SEM-EDX). The resistance of the sample were analyzed with Oxford Instrument TeslatronTMCFCryogenic with four point probe method. The result of XRD analyze show that the sample has FeSe phase with spacegroup P4/nmm and the morphology of the sample were similar with the literature. The resistivity of the sample shown thatthe sample have the characteristic of superconductor with Tconset 10 K altough the curve in cryogenic result not showingthe final Tc of the sample but the whole curve can be compared with the literature.
