Keanekaragaman Jenis Gymnospermae di Pulau Wawoni, Sulawesi Tenggara
Gymnosperm is a group of plant having seed not enclosed in an ovary. The seed develop either on the surface of scale or leaves, often modified to form cones or at the end of short stalks. The group consist of Conifers, Cycads, Ginkgo and Gnetales. About 800-900 species recognized and Conifer conducted reported as the highest species diversity (500-600 species) followed by Cycads (75-80 species). Inventory and exploration has been carried in Wawonii island, since 2003 to 2006. Six species of Gymnosperm were identified included in 3 families, namely Cycadaceae (Cycas rumphii), Gnetaceae (Gnetum gnemon and Gnetum cuspidatum), Podocarpaceae (Podocarpus neriifolius, Dacrydium nidulum and Nageia wallichiana). One of these is a new record for South East Sulawesi. Identification key and its distribution will be presented in the paper. Jurnal Biologi Indonesia, Vol. 9, No. 1. Hal. 83-92
